Biomedical Science Graduate Student Association
About
At the School of Medicine, there is a lot of great science being performed, but little sense of community or engagement between the biomedical science graduate students of different departments and programs. The goal of this organization is to adhere to our Core Values of Community, Education, Wellness, and Service while fostering a sense of community, facilitating professional development, promoting personal wellness, and serving and educating the greater Columbia area. The organization is open to PhD, Masters, Certificate, Rehabilitation Counseling, Genetic Counseling, Physician's Assistant, Nurse Anesthesia or PREP students who are in the Biomedical Sciences department at the School of Medicine. Programming that will be included in this organization are as follows: a Graduate Mentor Program where incoming students are matched with students in the same department/program only a year older, a series of Professional Development talks and workshops specific to the biomedical sciences program, community service such as the American Heart Association Heart Walk and participating in science advocacy and sciences fairs in local schools, and finally, a personal wellness series of activities to promote getting out of the laboratory to be social and healthy.
