Want to save lives? Better yet, want to BEAT CLEMSON? If so, welcome to Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive!

As a student-run organization, we collaborate through meetings to discuss and plan the annual Carolina-Clemson blood drive. At these meetings, we brainstorm the best ways to organize the blood drive on campus, brainstorm how to get the best donor turnout, discuss sponsorships and PR, and relay any updates we may have. Within our committee, we have many subcommittees that allow members to work on things for the drive that they are more interested in. A few examples of some of the subcommittee within our organization are logistics, organization relations, campus relations, pr/social, donor recruitment and freshmen committee!

If interested, the history of our organization helps exemplify why we are so passionate about our service and tradition: Since 1984, we have collaborated with Clemson to host one of the biggest blood drives in the country. As Gamecocks, and fellow students, we know how much Rivalry Week impacts campus life, activities, and school spirit. Our organization harnesses the historic rivalry between schools by allowing the student populations to compete in the annual blood drive to see which school can donate the most amount of blood (in pints). After the week of the drive, a trophy is presented to the winning University at the rivalry game. Since the founding of our blood battle in 1984, we have saved over 141,000 lives throughout South Carolina. We hope to increase this number every year.

No matter the winner of the drive, we as an organization, hold a lot of pride in knowing that we can host such a large scale blood drive that brings the communities together for a great cause. Traditionally, rivalry week is also at a time where blood donations are low, due to the beginning of the holiday season. Our annual blood drive drastically increases the number of blood donations at that time of year and helps to save so many lives.
