About
The purpose of The Daily Gamecock is to provide students with relevant information concerning community members, campus-related events and issues. We have four writing sections — news, sports, arts & culture and opinion — in addition to our copydesk, photo, design and engagement sections. Students from all majors are welcome.
Working at TDG provides hands-on experience creating online news content. Our reporters cover breaking news, political campaigns, local concerts and art exhibits and Gamecock sports. We receive multiple awards at the South Carolina Press Association each year, such as General Excellence and Journalist of the Year. Writers and photographers have the opportunity to attend events of state and national importance, and former staffers have gone on to intern at local news outlets, including The Post and Courier and The State, and work at esteemed news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and the Tampa Bay Times.
