Graduate Students in Linguistics
About
Graduate Student in Linguistics (GSLING) represents linguistics as a whole at UofSC. As scholars of language, we host both academic events related to various subdisciplines in the field and social events to promote a linguistics community. Whether you're a linguistics student, a language lover, or just interested in what the art and science of language is, there's a place for you here!
Linguistics at UofSC is comprehensive in its scope. Its mission is to train students to pursue research and teach in a wide range of linguistic subdisciplines. The program strives to develop students' analytical skills and to encourage creative, critical approaches to data, models, and theories. The program administers three graduate degrees: a Ph.D. in Linguistics, an M.A. in Linguistics, and a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The Graduate Students in Linguistics work to develop a learning community that encourages our individual pursuits and the furthering of knowledge in the field. Our community participates in academic colloquia, conferences, and professional development seminars, as well as social events that promote healthy academic relationships between students and between students and faculty.
