National Society of Black Engineers
About
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) came into existence as an organization geared towards the recruitment, development, and retention of students in the engineering discipline. What has started as a small group of engineers at Purdue University has since evolved into one of the largest student run organizations in the country. With a mission "to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community," NSBE has spread to 233 colleges and universities, 65 alumni chapters, and 89 pre-college chapters.
We are a non-profit organization aimed at increasing awareness of opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields to the youth at neighboring high schools. The University of South Carolina chapter of NSBE also plans to attend conferences where our students will have a chance to network, develop professional skills, and market themselves to a variety of companies.
