Sustainable Carolina
About
Sustainable Carolina is the student branch of the Office of Sustainability. Our mission is to educate and transform the campus and community by promoting collaborative relationships among students, faculty, staff, and community members for exploring and implementing sustainability practices. At Sustainable Carolina, we are dedicated to increasing your employability by helping you make connections between academic knowledge and practical experiences. Sustainable Carolina has several signature events, professional development workshops, and volunteer opportunities.
Sustainable Carolina is a little different than other student organizations- we're an immersive leadership program! Students in the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program (SCLP) commit 50 hours per semester to serve as Peer Leaders, addressing sustainability challenges on campus and developing into future sustainability leaders. Peer Leaders receive one-on-one leadership coaching from our staff, attend weekly team meetings to plan events and manage programs that implement sustainable change on campus and in the community, and attend other events and workshops. In order to join, students must apply during the fall or spring application cycle. Applications are now open, and you can find the link on the Office of Sustainability’s website! Questions? Contact sustainability@sc.edu.
Not ready to commit 45 hours but still want to be involved? Volunteer in the Sustainable Carolina Garden on campus! You can sign up to volunteer here.
